Who is entitled to the ÖH Social Fund?
Students who are eligible for support from the ÖH Social Fund must:
- are socially needy according to the guidelines of the ÖH-Sozialfonds,
- do not receive a student grant (or do not receive the full amount),
- have positively completed 16 ECTS or 8 SWS from courses and examinations in the last academic year (*no recognitions). Exception: In the 1st semester no course work has to be proven yet.
- at a university with cooperation between local university representation and ÖH Social Fund check!
- have not exceeded twice the minimum period of study (example: Bachelor’s program lasts 6 semesters – up to and including 12 semesters you can apply for the ÖH Social Fund)
How can I submit an application?
To submit an application, complete the application form (available for download below) and attach the necessary documents (copies). When everything is complete, processing can be faster. Incomplete applications must be rejected.
You can send us your application by e-mail or by mail. If you send us your application via e-mail, we ask you to send all documents collected in one PDF. By mail the application should be sent to the address on the first sheet of the application form.
What is the composition of the budget for the social fund?
The ÖH Social Fund is funded in equal parts by the ÖH Federal Representation, the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and the student body of the (private) university, university of applied sciences or university of teacher education at which the student is enrolled.
How long does the processing take?
The processing time is currently 6-8 weeks. However, we make every effort to process each application as quickly as possible. The decisions will be sent to you by mail, and the funding amount will be transferred to the account you specify in the application.
Does my local ÖH have a cooperation with the ÖH Social Fund?
Currently we have cooperation with the following university representatives. This means: If you study at one of the universities listed below and meet the guidelines of the ÖH Social Fund, you can apply to the ÖH Social Fund.

What funds are there?
Social Fund
The Social Fund is the most disbursed fund. For this, the general requirements must be met. Information can be found here. Please follow our guidelines!
Children’s Fund
You have unexpected costs for your child (therapy, children’s furniture, etc.) or during pregnancy that you cannot afford (childcare costs (crèche, after-school care, kindergarten, etc.) also count)? Contact us for support from the Children’s Fund. Please follow our guidelines!
Psychotherapy Fund
An application may be made to the Psychotherapy Fund for costs arising from current or necessary future psychotherapy. Please follow our guidelines!
Mediation Fund
In case of conflicts with your parents regarding maintenance claims, an out-of-court mediation can be conducted. An application can be made to the ÖH Mediation Fund for the costs incurred for the first three hours of mediation. Please follow our guidelines!
Housing Fund
Housing is expensive. If you have been living in your apartment for longer than three months and you can barely afford the rent or are in a financial emergency due to energy bills, apply to the ÖH Wohnfonds. Please follow our guidelines!
Fund for students with disabilities
You have a 50% disability and because of that you have extra work for your studies? Contact us for a grant from the Fund for Students with Disabilities. Please follow our guidelines!
