Project description
The NELS project is a virtual training initiative that equips student leaders with the knowledge, skills and global perspectives to help them bring about positive change in higher education and beyond. NELS was launched by a consortium of higher education institutions and student representative bodies. The project brings together student representatives and academic staff from Europe and Africa for an exchange programme.
We are looking for students or university graduates with experience in student-led
Organisations hosting virtual NELS meetings in the 2025–2026 academic year
would like to lead. This is an opportunity to acquire new skills in facilitating discussions and delivering intercultural training, and to deepen your understanding of student leadership.
Tasks:
Participation in a virtual training session for student facilitators (duration approx. 90 minutes) on 20 October 2026 at 14:00 CET is a prerequisite.
In addition, participants are required to attend at least three NELS sessions and to facilitate group activities: from 14:00 CET to 15:30 CET for the first session and from 15:00 CET to 16:30 CET for the second session. This includes: a briefing for facilitators 30 minutes before the NELS session, the NELS session itself (150 minutes), and a debriefing for facilitators 30 minutes after the NELS session.
The presenters will be allocated to sessions based on their stated availability. In addition, participants are expected to be willing to take part in recordings for promotional materials for the project and to complete surveys regarding their work. The session dates are listed below.
Requirements
- Proficiency in spoken and written English (language level B2)
- Experience in facilitating discussions and technical knowledge (MS Teams, Moodle)
- Availability for at least 3 virtual NELS sessions (see dates for NELS sessions below)
We offer
- Remuneration for moderating on a fee basis (€150 per 90 minutes)
- Student Facilitators receive a certificate from the NELS virtual exchange programme, which is funded by the Erasmus+ programme and promotes international cooperation. The certificate includes a description of their role and contribution at the end of the programme cycle, in recognition of this special contribution to the project. If the student facilitators take part in three virtual NELS training sessions, they will receive a micro-certificate worth 3 ECTS credits, issued by the NELS project coordinator, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, on behalf of the project partners.
