Demonstration on 22. Oktober 2026.
On Thursday, we’ll take to the streets together under the slogan „Code Red– #UnisRetten!“ — to protest the underfunding of our universities and to advocate for a high-quality and equitable educational experience. That’s because, instead of the minimum 18 billion euros needed, the federal government is allocating only about 16 billion euros to universities for the period from 2028 to 2030. There’s a shortfall of two billion euros—with devastating consequences for teaching, student support, and employment conditions.
We’re fed up with our future being put at risk! Together, we’re calling for secure, long-term funding for public universities. After all, quality teaching, research, and fair working conditions don’t come for free. The federal government still has until October 31 to make adjustments to the budget. We’re applying pressure and showing, together, that: Our future is not negotiable!
