OC4CC: Bringing the climate crisis into the curriculum.
The ÖH, in partnership with Fridays For Future, is bringing the climate crisis to universities.
‘Open Your Course For Climate Crisis’, or OC4CC for short, is a week of action during which we, as the ÖH, encourage lecturers and teaching staff to link their course content to the climate crisis. This year, it will take place during the winter term from 23 to 27 November 2026.

You are a student:
The younger generation is bearing the brunt of the climate crisis. Yet far too little is being said or taught about it at Austria’s universities.
Through OC4CC, we as students can get involved and bring the climate crisis into our studies. To do this, we must all call on our lecturers to take part in OC4CC!
You are a course leader yourself:
As part of OC4CC, integrate content on the climate crisis into your courses, thereby enabling students to examine the issue from different perspectives and learn about its impacts. Use your expertise to discuss the climate crisis with students.

You are active in a student union:
As part of a student union, you can actively draw the attention of lecturers and other staff to the fact that their subject areas are always linked to the climate crisis and that they should explore this connection in their courses.

Is the climate crisis a crisis of science?
The climate crisis is the defining challenge of this century, and its effects – extreme weather events, hot summers, droughts – are already being felt clearly. Scientists have been calling for years for measures to prevent global warming from exceeding 1.5°C.
To mitigate a climate catastrophe, it is essential that everyone is made aware of the severity of the challenge. Through OC4CC, scientists and universities are supporting the demands of the climate movement whilst also creating opportunities to integrate the climate crisis into teaching.
