Since 2016, the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) has used the month of May as an opportunity to draw attention to the many barriers within the Austrian higher education system: admission restrictions and tuition fees act as social filters that particularly disadvantage people from non-academic family backgrounds. The Austrian Students’ Union clearly advocates for socially equitable access to higher education.
