The Social Affairs Office tries to improve the students' social situation by offering information, advice and intervention.

We cover the following tasks:

• Advice regarding social issues
• Advice regarding housing and tenancy law
• Advice regarding finances and debts
• Creation and revision of our brochures: Social brochure, Study and Work, Study and Habitation, Study with Child, Study without Barriers
• Administration of the ÖH Social Funds, Promotion of the Alfred Dorfer Grant and the Integration Fund
• Lobbying for social improvements in the Studienförderungsgesetz (regarding grants) and the Sozialversicherungsgesetz (regarding social security)
• Participitation in the advisory board of the Studierendensozialerhebung (a survey regarding the students' social situation)
• Organising the Bundessarbeitskreis der Sozialreferate - BAKS (a meeting of all colleagues of Austria's Student Unions' Departments of Social Affairs)
• Cooperation with the Austrian Social Forum (ASF) and the European Social Forum (ESF)
