Department of financial affairs

The department of financial affairs (often called „Wiref” internally) supervises more or less everything related to financial issues. In a manner of speaking, it is the "ministry of finance" within the ÖH.

On the one hand, the strings of the accountancy are converging here and the department for financial affairs deals with budget planning and the ongoing control of budget usage, as well as the annual statement of accounts.

On the other hand, this department negotiates contracts concerning cooperation, sponsoring, advertisement-deals, public funding while also administering the service of the job and accommodation databaseand student insurance.
Furthermore, the department of financial affairs supervises the financial processes of the independent representation units at the Universities for Teachers in Training and the Universities for Applied Science.

Management of public finances: Representatives of Universities of Applied Science

The legal representative units at the Universities of Applied Science do not possess a legal personality. Therefore, the ÖH department of financial affairs supervises the financial affairs together with the respective UAS officer. Management of public finances: Representatives of Universities for Teachers in Training

The legal representative units at the Universities for Teachers in Training do not possess a legal personality. Therefore, the ÖH department of financial affairs supervises the financial affairs together with the respective UTT officer. Reimbursement of the ÖH fee

If you finish your studies within the respite period, if you study at a university and a UAS/UTT or two UAS/UTTs at the same time or if you drop out prematurely, you might be entitled to a reimbursement of your ÖH fee. You can find information and the corresponding form here.

Annual accounts and estimates of costs of the ÖH

The annual estimations of costs ("budgets") are drawn by the federal representatives and show you how the ÖH plans to use your fees. The actual use of that money is described in the inspected annual accounts. You can find all relevant documents here.

What else does the department of financial affairs do?

On the one hand, the strings of accountancy converge here. Budget planning as well as budget controlling, annual accounts and cost calculations are essential activities of the department of financial affairs.
